2026 World Series Preview: Tampa Bay vs. Milwaukee
October 20, 202611 min readUpdated October 28, 2026

The Milwaukee Brewers lead the 2026 World Series 3-1 over the Tampa Bay Rays after the Rays survived elimination with a 4-3, 12-inning win in Game 4 on Tuesday, October 27. The best-of-seven series runs in a 2-3-2 pattern, and the first club to four wins takes the title. Milwaukee needs one win from the three games left, and Tampa Bay needs all three. As of October 28 at 3:49 PM ET, the market's implied probability favors the Brewers at 57% in Game 5 tonight, with the Rays at 42%.
Where the series stands
Milwaukee won the first three games, including a 5-4 comeback in Game 2 at American Family Field after trailing 4-0 in the first inning. Game 4 went the other way. Cooper Pratt homered in the top of the 12th to put the Brewers ahead, and the Rays answered in the bottom of the inning, with pinch hitter Ben Williamson's single driving in the winning run.
Milwaukee needs one win from the three games left on the schedule. Tampa Bay needs three straight. Game 5 is Wednesday, October 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field, and Games 6 and 7 are played only if the series needs them.
The market
How prices work
Prices in these markets are the market's implied probability of an outcome, quoted from 0 to 100 cents. If the outcome happens, the contract pays $1. If it does not, the contract pays nothing and the buyer loses what was paid for it. Trading event contracts involves risk of loss.
As of October 28 at 3:49 PM ET, the market's implied probability favors the Brewers at 57% in Wednesday's Game 5, with the Rays at 42%. The series game spread market priced the Brewers at 82% to win the series by at least two games and 59% to win it by at least three.
Those prices answer different questions. The game market prices one night, and the series markets price how the whole best-of-seven finishes. Milwaukee needs only one win from the three games left, so the series prices lean further toward the Brewers than any single game does. A price on any market is a snapshot of a single moment, which is why every percentage here carries a date and time.
The full MLB slate and the MLB future events collection carry the rest of the baseball markets.
The schedule and home field
Milwaukee holds home field, which in the World Series goes to the club with the better regular-season record. The Brewers finished 103-59, the best record in MLB, and the Rays finished 98-64. That puts Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 in Milwaukee and Games 3, 4 and 5 in St. Petersburg. FOX is the listed broadcast for every game, each with a first pitch of 8:00 p.m. ET.
Games 3, 4 and 5 run on consecutive days in St. Petersburg with no off day between them, and Game 4 went 12 innings, so both bullpens carry heavy workloads into Game 5. The one remaining travel day is Thursday, October 29, before the series moves back to Milwaukee.
| Game | Date (ET) | Matchup | Where | Status or market favorite |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fri, Oct 23 | Rays at Brewers | Milwaukee | Brewers won |
| 2 | Sat, Oct 24 | Rays at Brewers | Milwaukee | Brewers won, 5-4 |
| 3 | Mon, Oct 26 | Brewers at Rays | St. Petersburg | Brewers won |

| 5 | Wed, Oct 28 | Brewers at Rays | St. Petersburg |
*Played only if necessary. Prices are as of October 26 at 10:14 AM ET.
Game 5 prices the Brewers at 57% and the Rays at 42%. Friday's Game 6 in Milwaukee flips to the Rays at 55% over the Brewers at 45%, and Saturday's Game 7 prices both sides at 50%. None of the three games prices outside 57%.
The series markets
Beyond the game lines, the series is priced as a whole. Total games is a price on how many games are played, not a forecast of length.
| Market | Outcome | Implied % |
|---|---|---|
| Series game spread | Brewers -1.5 games | 82% |
| Series game spread | Brewers -2.5 games | 59% |
| Series total games | Over 5.5 games | 41% |
| Series total games | Over 6.5 games | 19% |
Prices are as of October 28 at 3:49 PM ET. A Brewers win tonight would end the series 4-1, so the 59% price on the -2.5 line tracks the 57% Game 5 price closely.
Brewers and Rays by the numbers
Milwaukee finished the 2026 regular season 103-59 with a +214 run differential, scoring 832 runs and allowing 618. Tampa Bay finished 98-64 with a +86 run differential, 736 runs scored and 650 allowed.
The Brewers carry a 3.515 team ERA and a 3.4 bullpen ERA for the season. The Rays are at 3.705 and 3.987. Tampa Bay holds the better team WHIP at 1.1393 to Milwaukee's 1.1779. On our reading, the bullpen line is the clearest separation in the two staffs, and Game 2 showed it.
Milwaukee's .744 team OPS edges Tampa Bay's .728.
Jake Bauers and Jackson Chourio pace the Brewers
Jake Bauers posted an .873 OPS with 26 home runs and 86 RBI for Milwaukee in 2026. Jackson Chourio hit .291 with an .838 OPS, 25 home runs and 75 RBI, and Brice Turang drove in 100 runs with 21 home runs and an .816 OPS.
William Contreras added 18 home runs and 94 RBI with a .758 OPS. Garrett Mitchell hit .262 with a .770 OPS, 11 home runs and 65 RBI, and Christian Yelich hit .235 with a .693 OPS, 12 home runs and 59 RBI.
Junior Caminero leads the Rays lineup
Junior Caminero hit 42 home runs with 101 RBI and an .884 OPS in 2026, the highest OPS in either lineup listed here. Jonathan Aranda hit .274 with a .792 OPS, 22 home runs and 92 RBI, and Chandler Simpson hit .306 with a .689 OPS and 38 RBI.
Ryan Vilade hit .245 with a .750 OPS and 11 home runs, and Jonny DeLuca hit .266 with a .729 OPS and 50 RBI. Ben Williamson hit .238 with a .620 OPS and three home runs, and his pinch-hit single delivered the Game 4 walk-off.
Tampa Bay's case
Tampa Bay posted a 3.987 bullpen ERA in 2026 against Milwaukee's 3.4, and scored 96 fewer runs across the season. In our read, the Rays' case in these markets leans more on Junior Caminero's 42 home runs than on run prevention, though their 1.1393 team WHIP is the better of the two. Their path is narrow: three straight wins, starting with Game 5 at home and then two in Milwaukee.
The pitching
Probable starters for the remaining games had not been announced as of the October 28 snapshot. Game 5 follows a 12-inning Game 4, so both staffs enter it with taxed bullpens, and the choice of starter will signal how each manager plans to cover the innings.
Bullpen shape is the second question. Milwaukee's relievers were the clearest edge in the first three games, and Tampa Bay's kept Game 4 within reach long enough to win it in the 12th. The game pages are the place to check when a probable is posted.
Junior Caminero tops the home run market at 16%
As of October 28 at 3:49 PM ET, Junior Caminero carries the market's highest implied probability to hit a home run in the Brewers vs Rays game, at 16%. Player markets on the Brewers vs Rays page belong to the game they are listed for, and each game carries its own listings.
The read
Milwaukee needs one win from the three games left, and the market prices Game 5 at 57% for the Brewers, with the Rays at 42%. By our read, the series prices lean further toward the Brewers than any one game does, because Tampa Bay has to win three straight, starting with Wednesday night at home. The Rays showed in Game 4 that they can win a long one, but the market sees all three remaining games as close, none priced outside 57%.
The market pages are the place to check prices as they change, and this preview will be updated as the series moves.
